Rochester Personal Defense, LLC and On Point Self Defense are proud to host “A Weekend of Seminars with Rory Miller” in upstate New York starting the evening of November 16th!!! In order to make the sessions available to the greatest geographical area, Rory Miller will present a lecture on “Conflict Communications” in Binghamton on Friday evening. He will instruct two unique hands-on seminars on Saturday in the Binghamton/Vestal, NY area and will repeat the same two seminars in Rochester, NY on Sunday!!

 

Mr. Miller is the founder of Chiron Training and is an internationally recognized expert in preventing, de-escalating, and active force response to violence. He has authored articles for national magazines, written books such as “Meditations on Violence” and “Facing Violence” which are considered by many as the bibles of self defense in the real world. He has served as the Defensive Tactics and Hand to Hand Instructor for both corrections and law enforcement, and has instructed countless real-world seminars in and out of the United States. Please note: No street shoes will be allowed on the training floor at the Vestal location. Options are: Bare feet or wrestling/lifting shoes or any other indoor specific shoes.

 

Subjects Covered:

Conflict Communications

Conflict Communications is a presentation intended for general audiences. Mr. Rory Miller will explain the dynamics underlying conflict providing the student with skills to recognize and resolve the hidden problem. It is NOT just about violence and self-defense. Students will learn to address work, political, and family disputes as well.

 

Audience: Law Enforcement, Martial Artists, Anyone

Location: Ironworks Gym, 126 East Service Road, Binghamton, NY

Time: 6 Pm – 9 Pm

Introduction to Violence – The Essentials

The Essentials seminar is intended primarily for Law Enforcement and Martial Artists but is beneficial to non martial-artists as well. Mr. Miller will discuss the context of self defense including New York state self-defense law which is a MUST HAVE for anyone who finds themselves faced with a potentially violent encounter. Drills will include learning to see the situation as it is, de-escalation, efficient movement, and fighting to the goal. Although active participation in the drills is suggested to maximize the benefits of the instruction, student observation versus participation is encouraged for any activities which they consider dangerous, unpleasant, or uncomfortable.

 

Date: Saturday, November 17

Time: 8 AM – 1200 PM

Location: Power of 1, 1500 Vestal Parkway East, Vestal, NY

Audience: Law Enforcement, Martial Artists, Anyone

 

Date: Sunday, November 18

Time: 8 AM – 1200 PM

Location: The Genesee Conservation League, 1570 Old Penfield Rd, Rochester, NY 14625

 

Audience: Law Enforcement, Martial Artists, Anyone

Minimum age: 16 years old with consent of guardian

Attire: Participants should wear whatever they normally wear for clothing. Just be aware that there will be some wear and tear. (Bring extras just in case.)

Cost: $50

Class size is limited to first 30 participants

 

 

Introduction to Violence - Dealing With Assault

The Assault seminar is intended primarily for Law Enforcement and Martial Artists, but is beneficial to non martial-artists as well. Rory will discuss types of violence and responding to the four basic truths of violent assault. Drills will include power generation and counter-assault techniques. Although active participation in the drills is suggested to maximize the benefits of the instruction, student observation versus participation is encouraged for any activities which they consider dangerous, unpleasant, or uncomfortable.

Time: 1pm to 5pm

Time: 1pm to 5pm
