Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

More Details: This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Attendees will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

NRA's rules for safe gun handling
Rifle parts and operation
Ammunition
Shooting fundamentals
Range rules
Shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions
Cleaning
Continued opportunities for skill development.

Required Equipment:

In order to participate fully in this class, you should bring the following:

A rifle in good working order (any action or caliber)
Eye and ear protection
50 rounds of ammunition for your rifle (DO NOT BRING ANY AMMO INTO THE CLASSROOM)
Weather-appropriate clothing
Comfortable footwear
Water and snacks
Lunch or you may purchase one at the club or close by
