Due to the ammo shortage, we have temporarily reduced the round count and the price of the course to match. For the time being, we will train you with only 25 rounds-as a minimum! You are more than welcome to bring more if you wish!

As of March 22, any NEW student will receive the new discounted price of 145.00. (Prior registrants and students excluded) Regardless of when you registered, this discount will only apply to NEW registrants.

If you possess a New York State carry concealed pistol permit that is restricted to hunting and target-use only, this class will provide you with the training requirements you need to apply to have the restrictions removed and obtain your FULL CARRY/UNRESTRICTED NY State Pistol Permit through the court system.

Come train with the area's only fully insured, qualified, experienced instructors who retain National Certifications to teach civilian defensive firearm use. Please be aware that there are some instructors who take shortcuts in their training methods and fraudulently claim to have proper certification. You should ask them to prove it. (By the way, FRAUD is a Felony in NY State) Each of our instructors carries valid and current credentials which indicate the disciplines in which s/he is certified and would be happy to show them to you. Copies of certificates are available upon request in writing.

This is the ONLY class in the area in which you will receive actual training in safety, shooting, and proficiency skills, and not just receive a performance certification. You will learn valuable but necessary skills that will not only help you carry your firearm more securely and reliably, but could possibly save your life. This training is the most comprehensive class you will find in the area that actually teaches you the skills you will need to carry concealed.

You will also learn when it would be justified in using your firearm; but more importantly, you will learn when NOT to use it and how to de-fuse and de-escalate situations. We will teach you about the legalities of carrying a firearm and provide information on other important topics. You will be a better shooter when you get done!

You must attend the complete session (classroom and range) in order to receive your letter and your certificate.

Note: As of 4/4/2012, ANY holster that utilizes the index or trigger finger of the shooting hand to disengage a locking device to release the handgun is now disallowed from ANY Rochester Personal Defense, LLC class, training, event, or any function that we host or have involvement with. Subjects Covered:

During the classroom sessions, you will learn about:

Firearm safety
Article 35 Legalities and Justification in Self Defense
De-escalation and disengagement from an encounter
Verbal commands
Drawing the handgun effectively and safely
Trigger control and manipulation
Malfunctions and stoppage clearing
Tactical vs combat reloading

On the range, you will:

Perform live all of the skills that you learned in the classroom.
Draw and fire at targets for accuracy while under minimal stress
Utilize both combat reloads and administrative reloads
Learn how to keep your handgun running
Surprise yourself at your speed, accuracy, and safety

Required Equipment:

In order to get the most out of the training, you should have the following:

A valid New York State Pistol Permit
Eye and ear protection
A reliable, defensive-oriented firearm (NO hunting or target guns)
A minimum of 25 rounds of ammunition
A minimum of 2 magazines or speedloaders with carriers/holders
A quality,strong-side, belt-mounted type holster (NO shoulder holsters please)
A sturdy belt for your holster and magazine pouch.
Comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
A hat with brim
Water and quiet snacks

Important Note:

If you are a new shooter and do not have a handgun or any other concealed type equipment, for a nominal fee to cover wear and tear, cleaning, and the loan of the gun and gear, we can provide what you need to complete the course, just contact us for details.

Even if you do not have the gear, we can still give you the knowledge and training.

Prerequisites:

A vaild NY State Pistol Permit
A desire to learn real life, valuable skills from instructors who care about what they do and live what they teach.

Dave, I would like to personally thank you for the constructive educational learning in the Unrestricted Carry Permit Training class I took this weekend. I learned a lot, about the laws, safety and the moral responsibility of carrying a firearm, how to handle situations to make a student feel more confident. You presented different scenarios that a person might not think about. You added humor while still teaching the seriousness of being a firearm owner. Your awareness of each student and of his or her own level of ability was impressive. I like that you made sure each student reached the same level of the exercises before going on to the next one, that it was reinforced before another one began.
